Are You Looking for Therapy & Counselling?

As a society, it seems we are more aware than ever of the importance of mental health. But finding help can still seem a daunting task.

Psychotherapy and counselling (the two terms are often used interchangeably) offers a safe, confidential and open space for you to explore your experience of the world and the things that are troubling you with someone who will engage with you with curiosity and empathy.

It’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with. If we both feel that the initial session goes well, we can arrange to meet regularly, usually for 50 minutes each week. We can agree to meet for a limited period of time - maybe 6 to 12 sessions, or for 6 months to a year. Or we can leave the ending open. We may focus on one particular issue or we may explore the diversity and range of your life experience.

I describe my approach as integrative and relational. Integrative means that I draw on a wide range of ideas and concepts to inform my work together. You may have heard of some of them: person-centred, psychodynamic, gestalt and body psychotherapy.

Relational means that I’m guided as well by the habitual patterns that you may have developed in relation to people over the years and how these play out in the relationship between us. I see my role as not to provide you with a diagnosis or even an off-the-shelf solution. My role is to act as a guide to help you rediscover the full capacity of who you are and how you orient yourself to the world and society.
